|Open Source Software (OSS) Implementation Guidelines|
On 19 June 2002, the Government of Malaysia has decided to encourage the adoption of Open Source Software (OSS) in the Public Sector. The Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU) of the Prime Ministers Department is entrusted to lead and implement this OSS Initiative.
OSS Implementation Guidelines serves as a guide for the implementation of OSS in the Public Sector. In addition, this document aims to:
The OSS implementation guidelines are designed to assist and guide the stakeholders within the Public Sector in understanding and taking the right direction in the utilisation and production of OSS. These guidelines are intended to provide the right enabling environment for the implementation of OSS in the Public Sector. These guidelines will be reviewed and adjusted from time to time, in order to reflect advances in technology and the requirements of the Public Sector.
This document is intended for use by Public Sector agencies to gain understanding on how to implement OSS in their respective agencies. The target audiences for this document are the Head of Departments (HODs), Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and all ICT personnel.
